Review:With the improvement of the complexity of product structure, the demand for high-quality and high-precision friction stir welding technology and equipment for aluminum alloy complex curved surface components is becoming more and more urgent.

On April 10, 2022, the scientific and technological achievement appraisal meeting of the project "Key Technologies and Complete Sets of Equipment for High-quality and Efficient Friction Stir Welding of Thin-walled Curved Aluminum Alloy" was successfully held in Risong Science and Technology Park, Guangzhou Development Zone. The achievement appraisal committee is composed of 11 experts, including Professor Song Tianhu of China Society of mechanical engineering as the chairman, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, researcher Shan Zhongde of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering and Professor Ding Han of Huazhong University of science and technology as the deputy director.

 

The project was unanimously approved by the appraisal committee, and the appraisal opinions were given: the project has great technical difficulty, strong innovation, independent intellectual property rights, and the overall technology has reached the international advanced level. Among them, the inclination compensation of friction stir welding process, the mixed control algorithm of welding force and position, and the materials of high strength and toughness mixing head have reached the international leading level.

The appraisal meeting of scientific and technological achievements of the project was organized and held by China Machinery Industry Federation and China Society of mechanical engineering in the form of on-site meeting + remote video. Ma Jingkun, director of China Machinery Industry Federation, and Mei Yi, director of China Society of Mechanical Engineering jointly presided over it.

 

 

 

The appraisal project was jointly completed by Guangzhou Ruisong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., China Ukraine Welding Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, China Shipbuilding Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., China Aviation Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, Harbin Institute of technology and Beijing ailupu Technology Development Co., Ltd.

At the appraisal meeting, Dong Chunlin, deputy director / researcher of China- Ukraine Welding Research Institute, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, made a detailed report on the results of the appraisal meeting, including project R&D background, problems solved, key technology R&D, technological innovation points and comparison of indicators at home and abroad.

He said that in view of the technical difficulties of the current friction stir welding equipment in realizing three-dimensional curved surface welding, poor welding accuracy, short service life of the mixing head and low development efficiency of the welding process, the project team systematically carried out the design and development of flexible high-performance spindle system, multi information fusion and high-precision control of the welding process, the development of high strength and toughness materials of the mixing head and the structural design of large aspect ratio Key technologies such as intelligent optimization of welding process and engineering application are to be tackled. It is planned to form technical and theoretical innovation in new materials, core components, welding process control and welding professional software, and realize industrial application in aviation, shipbuilding, new energy vehicles and other fields.

 

It is understood that under the guidance of the national strategy of "carbon neutralization and carbon peak", the application of light alloy materials such as aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy is increasing year by year to meet the urgent needs of aerospace, rail transit, new energy vehicles and other industries for high-performance lightweight structural products. With the improvement of the complexity of product structure, the demand for high-quality and high-precision friction stir welding technology and equipment for aluminum alloy complex curved surface components is becoming more and more urgent.

Sun Zhiqiang introduced: at present, the achievements of the project have been applied in engineering in domestic aircraft auxiliary fuel tank, large aluminum alloy ship wall panel, new energy vehicle battery tray, water-cooled radiator and other products, especially the first application of aluminum alloy complex curved surface high-quality and high-precision friction stir welding equipment technology in aircraft auxiliary fuel tank products, with huge potential economic benefits. At the same time, it provides important technical support for China's national defense construction and national economy, with remarkable social benefits.

 

He further said: in the future, while the existing application fields continue to deepen, this achievement will continue to explore new fields and new application scenarios, accelerate its promotion to a broader application market and give full play to its due value.

Innovation point 1

Innovation point 4

The intelligent optimization technology of welding process is studied, and the friction stir welding process database system is developed, which solves the technical difficulties of low efficiency and poor stability of welding quality.
